My background in advertising has equipped me well for my role at World Business Chicago (WBC) in several ways. Regional economic development is important because it allows us to take a holistic approach to promoting and developing our collective assets. By focusing on the entire metro, rather than just Chicago, we can offer a bigger canvas on which to paint a more comprehensive and relevant product and experience to promote. This allows us to tap into the greater economic potential of the region, including a larger GDP, population, and workforce. What are the Chicago region's biggest opportunities?
The Chicago region has several significant opportunities for growth and development. One of the biggest is to become more competitive in attracting businesses and investment by offering a synchronized and integrated approach to regional promotion. This can include highlighting the region's strengths and assets, including its diverse workforce, strong transportation infrastructure, and robust economy, in a cohesive and compelling way to potential investors and businesses. Additionally, we can leverage our strong manufacturing and logistics industries, fast-growing technology and startup ecosystem, and diverse cultural and recreational amenities. What is one thing that WBC does that people don't know about and should?
People may not be aware of the extensive foundational work that WBC does before promoting and pitching the area to potential investors and businesses. This includes researching various industries and opportunities within the region, developing targeted media campaigns, identifying potential sources of federal funding, and so on. Additionally, we focus on fostering connections between the startup ecosystem and established industries within the region, as well as building relationships with international partners and organizations. This extensive preparation allows us to present a compelling, well-informed, and strategic pitch for the Chicago region, highlighting its strengths and potential for growth and development.
